The PTS Varsity Softball team goes into the district season with an 11-9 record. Their energy and unity have truly been represented this season with the girls hyping each other up and staying confident on the field. Junior Caroline Crews is pictured at first base. POINTS LEADER: Senior co-captain Jade Leon shoots a shot to score points for her team. Leon is one of the leading scorers on the Varsity team and has been a part of this team for five years. “I’m really sad that it's my last year on this team," Leon said. "Coach has helped me over these five years to be the player that I am today.”
Girls varsity basketball season off to a positive start
Unlocking the wonder of STEM education, students from all grades and places visited our school to participate in the SWE Next Event. One of the girl scouts of Troop 314 from Cutler Bay, Lucia Fajardo (5th grade), shares that her “group activities were really cool! My favorite person was the one who worked for Disney! I loved building the bridge at the end and eating gumdrops!” Inspired by the speeches, Lucia intends to stay involved with STEM with no hesitation.

STAMP SESSION: As senior Parkman Steinhour stamps his finger onto the balloon, his fingerprint becomes visible. “This lab was really cool because you don’t really expect all the crevices and stuff to show but they are actually super noticeable on the balloon,” Steinhour said.

SAY CHEESE: While waiting in line to take their pictures, seniors Ali Garcia and Isa Monzayet practice their smiles with each other. "I'm almost 18 years old but I want my picture to capture the girl I was 10 years ago," Monzayet said. "I always wore bows in my hair or had my hair in pigtails when I was little. I always had the biggest and most innocent smile on my face so I wanted to try and replicate that again."

THE STORY OF A STORYTELLER: Hiaasen speaks to the Middle School about his experiences as a writer. “I always wanted to be a writer, I knew from a very young age I wanted to be a writer," he said in an interview with PTTV. "My first ambition was to be a sports writer and cover baseball or something. I've always liked to sit down and write and create. I was lucky. For some people, it takes a long time to figure out what they want to do but I knew from a very young age and I lucked out and it worked out for me.”

INKAHOLIK: Senior Sidonie Richard dips her finger into ink during the fingerprinting lab in Kim Allen's Biomedical Sciences class on Sept. 29. In order to cover her entire fingertip, she must dip lightly and roll her finger across the ink pad. “After I dipped my finger in the ink, I stamped my finger on a small blown up balloon and then blew it up more to make my fingerprint bigger,” Richard said.
