The PTS Varsity Softball team goes into the district season with an 11-9 record. Cross country teams end most successful season yet
POINTS LEADER: Senior co-captain Jade Leon shoots a shot to score points for her team. Leon is one of the leading scorers on the Varsity team and has been a part of this team for five years. “I’m really sad that it's my last year on this team," Leon said. "Coach has helped me over these five years to be the player that I am today.”
Girls varsity basketball season off to a positive start
Unlocking the wonder of STEM education, students from all grades and places visited our school to participate in the SWE Next Event. One of the girl scouts of Troop 314 from Cutler Bay, Lucia Fajardo (5th grade), shares that her “group activities were really cool! My favorite person was the one who worked for Disney! I loved building the bridge at the end and eating gumdrops!” Inspired by the speeches, Lucia intends to stay involved with STEM with no hesitation.
SWENext hosts “Girl Powered” engineering event
STAMP SESSION: As senior Parkman Steinhour stamps his finger onto the balloon, his fingerprint becomes visible. “This lab was really cool because you don’t really expect all the crevices and stuff to show but they are actually super noticeable on the balloon,” Steinhour said.

SAY CHEESE: While waiting in line to take their pictures, seniors Ali Garcia and Isa Monzayet practice their smiles with each other. "I'm almost 18 years old but I want my picture to capture the girl I was 10 years ago," Monzayet said. "I always wore bows in my hair or had my hair in pigtails when I was little. I always had the biggest and most innocent smile on my face so I wanted to try and replicate that again."

THE STORY OF A STORYTELLER: Hiaasen speaks to the Middle School about his experiences as a writer. “I always wanted to be a writer, I knew from a very young age I wanted to be a writer," he said in an interview with PTTV. "My first ambition was to be a sports writer and cover baseball or something. I've always liked to sit down and write and create. I was lucky. For some people, it takes a long time to figure out what they want to do but I knew from a very young age and I lucked out and it worked out for me.”

Girls varsity basketball season off to a positive start

COACH CHAT: Head Coach George Montes draws up and explains a play to his girls varsity squad during their game on Nov. 30 against Carrollton. This happens during the breaks in the game or timeouts to come up with new ways to score and make sure the other team doesn’t score. “What I’m most excited about is watching this group of talented young ladies compete,” Montes said. “These girls have put in a ton of work in the off-season, and it is always exciting to see how all that hard work pays off.” (Emily Cerda)

Only in their first few weeks of the season, the girls varsity basketball team is on a roll with a 3-0 record so far.

“My goal for this team is for us to have the two seniors on our team, Jade Leon and Mati Veloso, pass the torch to the remaining youngsters on the team, so that the culture of playing girls basketball at Palmer Trinity School continues to flourish,” Coach George Montes said.

The two captains, seniors Mati Veloso and Jade Leon, have been on the varsity squad for four years together.

“I think we’ve been working hard individually and as a team to get better and it shows. We’ve been doing good so far this year and I hope it keeps going. We want to be able to make it all the way,” Veloso said. “It would be nice to do that for my last season on the team.”

As a freshman on the team, Francesca Rivero is learning from the seniors and the seasoned players on the team.

“I think we all work together and are really close,” Rivero said. “I like how they’ve all been really welcoming since it’s my first year at Palmer and on the team.”

SQUAD SUPPORT: The players and managers watch the rest of the girls varsity team play. “I feel like this team is its own little family,” Rivero said. “We always support each other and want everyone to shine and succeed.” (Emily Cerda)

Football team look towards next year without 13 seniors

Valeria Touron is a sophomore at Palmer Trinity School. She plays tennis for the PTS tennis team, and is in clubs like Model UN, Palace Buddies, and Round Square. She is also in many honors classes. Her future goals are to get into IB and to get into Pepperdine.
